Feature Film Director, Austin (DOE)

A character-driven dark comedy feature, centered on an aspiring influencer's disastrous journey through a wellness retreat, is seeking a talented Director. This independent production offers a unique opportunity to shape a story that balances humor with raw emotional beats. We're looking for someone who can bring a distinctive visual style and a strong directorial voice to a script that's both challenging and rewarding. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the screenwriter and producers to refine the creative vision, leading the cast and crew through pre-production, principal photography, and providing creative input during post-production. You'll be instrumental in translating the script's nuances to the screen, guiding performances, and making critical aesthetic decisions. We welcome all experience levels, from emerging talents to seasoned professionals. Please submit a reel or portfolio showcasing your directing work on narrative projects. While we'll be providing essential camera and lighting packages, directors are encouraged to bring their preferred tools or suggest additional equipment that would enhance the project. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late August or early September 2026, over approximately 3-4 weeks in and around Austin, Texas. Expect 10-12 hour days. Compensation will be determined based on experience.
