Feature Film Sound Designer, Mid-Level
A man wakes up in a desert with no memory, pursued by a relentless, unseen entity. We're seeking a talented Mid-Level Sound Designer for an independent, psychological thriller feature film. The tone is suspenseful, gritty, and atmospheric, relying heavily on sound to build tension and convey the protagonist's fractured state. This project is a character-driven journey into paranoia and discovery, offering a great opportunity for creative soundscapes. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing all sound effects, foley, ambience, and integrating music cues provided by our composer. You'll work closely with the director and editor to craft a cohesive and impactful sonic world. This is a post-production role, primarily remote, but with options for in-person collaboration at our Austin, TX, post-house as needed. We expect about 3 weeks of work, primarily during the first half of October 2026. We require applicants to have their own professional-grade DAW and sound effects libraries. Experience working on feature films, especially thrillers or dramas, is essential. Please submit a reel showcasing your sound design work, particularly examples that demonstrate your ability to create suspense and psychological depth. We are paying $300-500 per day, depending on experience. This position offers creative freedom and significant contribution to the film's final impact. Applications are due by October 12, 2026.
