Gaffer (Entry) for Fantasy Short Film

Hey filmmakers! I'm Alana, a VFX Compositor working on an upcoming independent short film and we're on the lookout for an enthusiastic Entry-Level Gaffer to join our crew. This is a fantasy drama short, with a bittersweet tone, set in a whimsical, mystical forest. We're aiming for really dynamic, atmospheric lighting that enhances the magic and the emotional beats of the story. You'd be primarily responsible for setting up and operating all lighting equipment, working closely with our DP to execute their vision and ensure proper exposure and mood. We're looking for someone with a basic understanding of lighting principles, safety protocols, and a willingness to learn on the fly. No extensive gear required, but if you have any personal grip/electric tools, let us know! A keen eye and a positive attitude are more important. While this is a volunteer position, we'll provide meals and a copy of the final film for your reel. We're aiming to shoot across 3-4 days in late July, specific dates TBD, generally 10-12 hour days. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain on-set experience and contribute to a visually driven project.
