Gaffer for Indie Feature, Brooklyn, Oct 2026

Filming in Brooklyn, NY, in the second half of October 2026, we are seeking a skilled Gaffer for an independent feature film. This project is a gritty, character-driven drama exploring themes of urban isolation and redemption. It offers a chance to work on a visually impactful story with a small, dedicated team. We aim for a naturalistic, atmospheric relying heavily on practicals and motivated lighting. We anticipate about 15 shoot days within the specified period. Your key responsibilities will include collaborating with the Director of Photography to execute the lighting plan, leading a small lighting team (we anticipate bringing on 1-2 grips), overseeing all electrical safety, and managing lighting equipment on set. We're looking for someone who can be resourceful and creative with a modest lighting package. Requirements include a solid understanding of lighting principles, a strong work ethic, and experience working on narrative projects. While we appreciate any level of experience, we value a keen eye and a collaborative spirit above all. Please share your reel or portfolio demonstrating your work.
