Gaffer for Sci-Fi Noir Feature (Deferred)

Filming in Los Angeles, CA for approximately 25 days, starting mid October 2026. This is a mid-level Gaffer opportunity for an independent feature film project. We are shooting a gritty sci-fi noir story with a visually striking aesthetic, blending classic film noir shadows with futuristic, ethereal lighting. It’s a challenging but rewarding project for someone looking to make a significant visual impact. We need a Gaffer who can collaborate closely with the DP to execute complex lighting setups, manage the lighting crew effectively, and maintain a safe working environment. Key responsibilities include overseeing all electrical equipment, power distribution, and ensuring creative lighting goals are met within the schedule. Applicants should have at least 3-5 feature or high-end short film credits as a Gaffer or Best Boy Electric, demonstrating a strong understanding of various lighting techniques, power management, and safety protocols. You must be familiar with both traditional and LED lighting systems, and possess strong problem-solving skills. Please have your own basic Gaffer's kit (meters, tools, etc.). A reel showcasing your lighting work is essential. This is a deferred compensation role with a backend percentage offered. Daily hours will be standard 10-12 hour days. Production will provide all major lighting and grip equipment, power distribution, and a small lighting crew.
