Gaffer for Sci-Fi Pilot

Our upcoming sci-fi pilot, a gritty, grounded take on space exploration with a psychological thriller edge, needs a skilled Gaffer. This is an independent production with a compelling story that we believe has significant series potential. We're looking for someone to lead our lighting department, translating the DP's vision into practical, impactful lighting designs that enhance the narrative and character arcs. You'll be responsible for lighting setup, power distribution, and ensuring the safety and functionality of all electrical equipment on set. We anticipate about 10-12 shooting days in October 2026, primarily in and around the Los Angeles area. We're offering a backend percentage for this role. You should have your own basic lighting kit, including some fixtures and grip essentials, though additional specialized gear will be rented as needed. Mid-level experience on similar genre projects is preferred, and a strong reel showcasing your ability to create diverse and evocative lighting for narrative content is essential. We're a small, dedicated crew and value collaboration and creative problem-solving.
