Gaffer for Sci-Fi Short Film, Greater Atlanta Area

Hey filmmakers, Imani Brooks here. I'm helping a director friend find a talented Gaffer for an upcoming sci-fi short film shooting in the Atlanta area. This project is a really cool story about discovery and ethical dilemmas, with a visually rich, atmospheric tone, think high-concept indies. It's an independent production that's already got some buzz, and we're looking to make something truly special. As our Gaffer, you'll be responsible for all lighting setups and working closely with the DP to achieve their vision. This means everything from shaping light to managing electrical power, ensuring safety, and supervising the grip and electric team. We need someone who can bring their own lighting kit, including various fixtures, diffusion, stands, and power distribution. Experience on sci-fi or genre projects is a huge plus, but we're open to any level of experience if your reel shows strong creative lighting skills. Please share your portfolio or reel with relevant work. We're looking at a 2-week shoot, approximate dates in late August, early September. Expect long shoot days, typically 10-12 hours. We'll provide craft services, meals on set, and a positive, collaborative work environment. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a compelling independent film. Let's make some magic.
