Gaffer (Mid-Level), Sci-Fi Pilot

Need a talented Gaffer to bring their vision and technical expertise to an upcoming independent sci-fi pilot shooting in Cape Town. This is a suspenseful, character-driven story set in a dystopian future, with a unique visual aesthetic we're excited to capture. We're looking for someone who can translate our director's vision into compelling lighting. You'll be responsible for executing the lighting plan, leading a small lighting crew, and ensuring all electrical safety protocols are met. We need you to have a solid understanding of various lighting techniques, strong problem-solving skills, and experience with contemporary lighting fixtures. Please have your own basic gaffing kit (meters, gels, smaller expendables) and be comfortable working with rented gear. A reel showcasing your previous work, particularly any narrative or genre pieces, is a must. The shoot is currently slated for approximately 10-12 days in August 2026, with a few prep days beforehand. We anticipate long shoot days, typical for a pilot. Some lighting equipment will be provided through our rental package. This is a deferred compensation project (points + deferred pay schedule to be discussed). Come help us make something special.
