Gaffer (Senior) for Sci-Fi Short

Hey fellow filmmakers, we're looking for an experienced Gaffer to light our upcoming indie sci-fi short film here in Chicago. This project is a tense psychological thriller set in a dystopian future, exploring themes of surveillance and paranoia. We've got a really compelling script and a passionate crew, and we're aiming for a dark, atmospheric visual style that will really lean on creative lighting. As our Gaffer, you'll be responsible for overseeing all lighting aspects, collaborating closely with the DP to execute their vision, managing our grip and electric team, and ensuring safe and efficient power distribution. You'll need solid experience with various lighting packages, from HMI to LED, and a deep understanding of shaping light for dramatic effect. Please have a strong portfolio or reel showcasing your work in similar genres. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late September, early October, primarily over weekends and some weekdays. We're a small, dedicated independent production, so expect long but rewarding days. We'll be providing all necessary lighting and grip equipment, as well as craft services and transportation to and from set. Compensation is deferred, with points in the film, reflecting our commitment to sharing in the project's success. Looking forward to seeing your work!
