1st AC, Sci-Fi Short (LA)

Hey everyone, Terrence here, DIT for an exciting upcoming independent sci-fi short film. We're looking for a skilled and proactive 1st AC to join our small, dedicated crew for this passion project. The film is a dark, atmospheric sci-fi thriller exploring themes of isolation and artificial intelligence, with a visually driven narrative. Think moody lighting, precise camera movements, and a real commitment to cinematic storytelling. Your main responsibilities will include pulling sharp focus, managing camera equipment, setting up and breaking down the camera package, and general camera department organization. We're really looking for someone with solid experience on independent productions, good communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. You should have your own AC kit, including a full set of tools, tape, cleaning supplies, etc. Please have a strong list of recent 1st AC credits and, if you have one, a brief reel showcasing your work. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for late September, early October, for approximately 3-4 days in the Los Angeles area. Expect 10-12 hour days. We'll be providing all camera gear (RED Komodo or similar), craft services, and a great working environment.
