Mid-Level Screenwriter, Documentary Project (Albuquerque)
Hey Albuquerque filmmakers! I'm a Rigging Grip involved with an independent documentary project and we're on the hunt for a talented mid-level screenwriter. This film dives into a fascinating, lesser-known aspect of local New Mexico history, focusing on an untold story with a very human, emotional core. We're aiming for a compelling, narrative-driven documentary, so strong storytelling is key. Your main responsibilities will include developing interview questions, structuring the narrative arc, crafting voiceover scripts, and finessing dialogue based on archival materials and interviews. We're looking for someone with a solid understanding of documentary storytelling techniques, not just narrative features. You should have at least 3-5 years of professional screenwriting experience, ideally with some documentary credits. Please provide a portfolio or samples of your work, particularly anything that showcases your ability to weave factual information into an engaging story. We're expecting to shoot (and therefore need script work) over roughly 4-6 weeks, some time in late spring early summer. Specific dates are TBD but flexible. This is a paid position, offering $300-$500 per day depending on experience. We'll provide access to research materials and interviews. Let's make something great.
