Mid-Level Doc Screenwriter, Mexico City
We're looking for a screenwriter for an upcoming independent documentary that challenges traditional Mexican folklore around death with a fresh, contemporary perspective. It's a blend of investigative journalism and artistic interpretation, aiming for a thought-provoking and visually rich tone. We need someone to develop a compelling narrative arc, craft interview questions, structure archival material, and polish voiceover scripts. You'll work closely with the director to shape the story from research to final draft. Applicants should have at least 3-5 years of experience writing for documentaries, preferably with some international or cultural focus. A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to tell nuanced, engaging stories is essential. While you won't need to provide gear, a passion for Mexican culture and history is a huge plus. We anticipate approximately 10-15 days of work spread over 2-3 months, starting in late summer. This is a paid position, $200-400 per day, depending on experience. Come help us bring this unique story to life!
