Senior Screenwriter, Documentary Project

Hey everyone, Terrence here, DIT by trade. I'm putting out a call for a senior screenwriter to join an independent documentary project I'm helping to get off the ground. This isn't your typical doc, we're exploring the surprising subculture of competitive dog grooming and aiming for a really unique, character-driven narrative with a comedic yet insightful tone. We're looking for someone who can craft a compelling story from interviews and raw footage, someone who understands how to build tension and emotional arcs in non-fiction storytelling. Key responsibilities include script development, outlining interview questions, structuring sequences, and writing voiceover (if needed). You'll be working closely with the director and editor to shape the narrative. We need someone with significant documentary writing experience, a strong portfolio demonstrating their ability to create engaging non-fiction narratives is a must. This is a Los Angeles-based project. We anticipate work starting in late summer, early fall, with flexible hours as we move through development. This is a paid position, offering $100-200 per day depending on experience. While we're a small production, we're committed to telling an amazing story.
