Production for Documentary

Documentary Production Albuquerque, NM senior Budget: $250/day flat

An independent production is seeking a Senior Lead Editor to join our small, dedicated team for an upcoming feature-length documentary project based in Albuquerque. This film explores the unique culture and resilience of indigenous communities in the Southwest, offering a powerful, character-driven narrative with a poetic tone. We’ve shot a significant amount of compelling footage and are now looking for a seasoned editor to shape this material into a cohesive and impactful story. Key responsibilities include working closely with the director to establish narrative flow, creating rough and fine cuts, incorporating archival footage, managing sound design integration, and preparing for color grade and final sound mix. You'll be instrumental in crafting the film’s pacing and emotional arc. We prefer someone who can work largely from their own edit suite, ideally equipped with Adobe Premiere Pro, and has experience with long-form documentary storytelling. A strong portfolio or reel demonstrating senior-level editing on similar projects is essential. We're looking for someone with a keen eye for story and a collaborative spirit. The initial editing phase will begin in late September 2026 and is expected to run for approximately 10-12 weeks, with potential for extension. This is a flat rate of $250 per day for a 10-hour day, with some flexibility for remote work after initial in-person story discussions. We will provide all necessary project media and a clear editorial vision to guide your work.
