Screenwriter for Sci-Fi Noir Short Film

Short Film Screenwriting Los Angeles, CA mid Budget: $500-800/day

Hey everyone, Victor Langston here, Key Grip on an exciting new short film project. We're looking for a talented mid-level screenwriter to help us bring our vision to life. This is a gritty sci-fi noir, think Blade Runner meets Chinatown, with a strong focus on character and atmosphere. We've got a compelling premise involving a detective tracking down a rogue AI in a dystopian future, but need someone to craft the sharp dialogue and intricate plot beats that will make it sing. Your main responsibilities will include developing the full script from our existing treatment, refining character arcs, and ensuring the narrative tension is consistently high. We're looking for someone with a strong portfolio showcasing previous short film or feature work in the sci-fi or noir genres. Please send over your best writing samples and a brief intro about your approach to storytelling. Experience specifically with genre mashups is a big plus. This is a paid position, $500-800 per day, depending on experience, for an estimated 10-15 days of work spread over several weeks. Most of the work will be remote, but we'd like you to be in the Los Angeles area for occasional in-person meetings with the director and producer as needed. We're aiming for principal photography in late summer, so we're looking to lock down our script in the next 6-8 weeks. This is a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to a passion project with a dedicated independent team. Looking forward to seeing your work!
