Senior Sound Designer, Documentary Feature

Hey LA sound pros, I'm a drone operator working on an independent documentary feature and we're looking for a senior sound designer to join our team. This is a powerful, character-driven story exploring the resilience of environmental activists in underserved communities, with a raw, observational style and a strong emotional core. It's a passion project with incredible potential. We need someone to take ownership of the soundscape, from dialogue editing and noise reduction to building out immersive ambiences and creating impactful sound effects. Your work will be crucial in elevating the film's emotional impact. Ideally, you'll have experience with documentary storytelling, a strong ear for detail, and the ability to work creatively within a real-world sonic palette. You'll need your own workstation and software. Please share your reel or relevant work samples demonstrating your skills in this genre. This is a deferred pay position, reflecting the nature of independent filmmaking, with a commitment to fair compensation upon release. We’re aiming for a festival run and distribution. We're looking to start post-production in late spring early summer, flexible on exact dates. This is a remote role for the most part, though we're all based in LA for occasional meetings. This is a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to a meaningful project.
