Sound Designer, Short Film (Chicago)

Seeking a talented Sound Designer for an upcoming independent short film with an estimated 3-4 days of work, compensated at $300-500/day. This is a dramatic, character-driven narrative exploring themes of memory and loss, with a subtle, melancholic tone. The film leans heavily on atmospheric soundscapes and nuanced foley to build its emotional world, making sound design absolutely critical to its impact. We're looking for someone creative who can help craft this auditory experience. Key responsibilities include creating all sound effects, foley, and ambient sound beds, mixing dialogue, music, and sound effects, and delivering a final master audio mix for the film. Experience working with dialogue from independent productions is a plus, as is proficiency with industry-standard DAWs like Pro Tools or Logic Pro. Please submit a reel or portfolio showcasing your sound design work, particularly for narrative projects. Post-production will occur remotely, with potential for some in-person sessions in Chicago, IL, if desired, in the second half of September 2026.
