Indie DIT Workflow: Your Personal Routines/Checklists for Data Management?

Hey everyone,

I'm Sara Lindquist, and as a Post-Production Supervisor, I'm always looking for ways to streamline our workflow, especially on indie projects where budgets and crew are often tighter. I've read plenty of 'DIT best practices' guides, the usual 'do this, don't do that' stuff about proper data handoffs, checksums, and secure storage.

But I'm genuinely curious: how do you all personally translate those principles into your actual indie film sets? For my last short, I tried implementing a basic triple-redundancy system with external drives and a daily log, but I felt like I was still missing some efficiencies. Sometimes things get hectic, and those 'best practices' feel hard to maintain without dedicated DIT support.

Do any of you have specific routines, mental checklists, or even written checklists for data management on set that you'd be willing to share? I'm talking about the practical, day-to-day stuff that ensures footage integrity without requiring a full DIT station. Any insights would be hugely appreciated!
