AVOD/FAST & Rights: How are you adapting long-term finance plans?
Hey everyone,
I'm Tyler, a camera operator currently prepping for an indie doc series. We're shooting mostly on my C70 and an FX6, with a couple of SkyPanel S60-Cs for interviews. We’re trying to build out a solid finance plan beyond just the initial production budget, especially regarding distribution.
With the explosion of AVOD and FAST channels, I'm genuinely curious how this has impacted others' strategies for rights retention. Historically, we'd aim for a traditional sales agent and look at tiered windows. Now, it feels like there are so many more avenues. Are people holding onto more rights to self-distribute on these platforms, or are you still finding value in selling broader packages upfront?
Specifically, how has this changed your long-term revenue projections in a finance plan? Are you modeling more granular income streams, or just accepting a more fragmented, lower-yield per-platform approach?
Thanks for any insights!
