Beginner Power Planning Mistakes: What have you seen go wrong?
Hey everyone,
I'm Raj, a focus puller, and I've been thinking a lot about the importance of solid power planning on location. I’m currently prepping for a short film with a couple of ALEXA 35s and a pretty beefy lighting package including a few SkyPanel S60-Cs and an M18, and it's making me really consider all the variables.
I've seen power issues cause headaches before, mostly minor stuff like a genny needing more fuel, but I'm curious about the bigger picture. For those of you with more experience dealing with power distribution and generators, what are some of the most common or critical mistakes you've seen beginners make when it comes to location power planning? Specifically, regarding underestimating load calculations or misunderstanding tie-in procedures?
How did those mistakes manifest on set? Looking to learn from others' experiences to make sure my future projects run smoothly.
