Scene-Referred vs. Display-Referred for HDR: What's the future?

Hey everyone, I'm a Grip, and this HDR stuff is really making my head spin sometimes, especially with all the new gear coming out. I was just on a commercial shoot with an ARRI ALEXA Mini LF and monitoring on a solid FSI CM250, and the amount of detail we were capturing in the highlights and shadows was incredible. The DIT was moving between scene-referred and display-referred approaches depending on the shot, and it got me thinking.

With new cameras like the V-RAPTOR XL pushing even more dynamic range, and monitoring solutions becoming more sophisticated and accessible even for smaller productions, how do you all see this evolving? Is one strategy going to clearly dominate, or will new tech simplify things for us on set? What new tools (even if they're hypothetical right now) are you most excited about for simplifying this choice or making it more intuitive?
