BRAW/ProRes RAW: Bridging the NLE Gap - Workflow Solutions?
Hey everyone, I'm a Gaffer new to some of the post-production headaches, and I'm banging my head against the wall with RAW formats. I'm currently on an indie narrative shoot where the A-cam is an ALEXA Mini LF shooting ProRes RAW, and the B-cam, for some specific VFX shots, is a Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 12K shooting BRAW. Naturally, we're cutting in FCPX sometimes and then needing to grade in Resolve for certain looks.
My issue is the interoperability. Getting the BRAW into FCPX for basic edits is clunky, and then transferring ProRes RAW from FCPX to Resolve for the final grade feels like I'm losing data or fighting constant relinking issues. I've tried various export methods (XMLs, even just baked-in ProRes 4444XQ for some sections) but it never feels seamless. How are you all building your personal workflows to handle these two competing RAW formats, especially when bouncing between FCPX and Resolve? Are there specific conversion steps or project structures that make this less painful?
