Navigating Software Costs: Resolve vs. Adobe Subscriptions in a Shrinking Budget Climate
Hey everyone, I'm finding myself in a bit of a bind lately. I'm prepping for a new short film, a moodier piece, and the budget is definitely tighter than usual, we're looking at using my ALEXA 35 and some SkyPanel X's, but saving everywhere else possible. I've always relied heavily on Premiere Pro and some of its AI plugins for things like automatic transcriptions, but the cumulative subscription costs are becoming a real factor. I've dabbled with DaVinci Resolve a little, mainly for color on past projects, but I'm hesitant to jump in fully for editing and all the other post-production steps I'm used to doing in Adobe. My last gig, a commercial where we shot on a VENICE 2, had the budget for all the toys, but this is different. How are you all managing? Are you making the full switch to tools like Resolve to cut costs, or are there clever ways to minimize Adobe expenses while still leveraging powerful AI tools? I'm genuinely curious about workflows or specific strategies.
