Virtual Production: Blocking and Pre-Viz Changes?
Hey DPs, I'm genuinely curious about how LED stages and virtual production have altered your workflow. I'm prepping for a sci-fi short, mostly green screen now, but we're exploring some smaller LED wall segments for the more intricate set pieces. Currently, I’m doing a lot of traditional photographic storyboarding and 3D mock-ups in Blender, like I would for any shoot. But the idea of having the environment there in real-time feels like it should drastically change how I block actors and plan my camera moves with my ALEXA Mini LF. I'm thinking about setting up some crane moves with an Orbiter and just trying to figure out how to best integrate it all. Ten years ago, it was all about imagination and diagrams. What's fundamentally different for you now in terms of blocking and pre-viz?
