Senior Director, Impactful Feature Doc
Looking for a seasoned Director to lead an independent documentary feature exploring the unsung heroes of public archiving. This project delves into the fascinating world of digital preservation, uncovering the quiet dedication of those safeguarding our collective memory. We're aiming for a thoughtful, character-driven narrative with a strong emotional core. Your primary responsibilities will include creative vision and artistic direction, working closely with the Cinematographer and editorial team to shape the story, and leading interviews. You'll need a proven track record (5+ years) directing feature documentaries with strong festival or distribution success. A compelling director's reel showcasing your narrative and interview skills is essential. While we don't expect you to provide your own camera package or lighting, experience with efficient workflows on independent projects is a must. Shoot dates are approximately late Summer/early Fall for 6-8 weeks, with flexible pre-production. This is a passion project with deferred compensation (backend percentage), ideal for someone deeply committed to telling important stories. We'll provide travel, accommodation if necessary within Toronto, and a supportive crew eager to collaborate.
