Directing for Documentary

Documentary Directing New York, NY mid Budget: $300-500/day

Hey filmmakers, I'm looking for a talented and insightful Director for an upcoming independent documentary feature, 'Unseen Bonds.' This film explores the crucial, often overlooked, role of connection and care within unique community groups. We're aiming for a sensitive, observational tone, highlighting stories with depth and authenticity. It's a really compelling subject, and we believe it has the potential to resonate widely. As our Director, you'll be responsible for creative vision, guiding our small crew, overseeing interviews, and shaping the narrative arc. This project requires someone who can build trust quickly with subjects and translate complex emotions onto the screen effectively. You'll work closely with the producer and post-production team to ensure a cohesive final product. We're looking for a mid-career director with proven documentary experience. A strong reel showcasing your ability to tell human-centered stories is a must. While we'll have core gear covered, familiarity with common documentary camera packages (like Sony FX series or similar) is beneficial. Shoot dates are approximately 25-30 days over a 3-month period, mostly weekdays, beginning late summer in New York City. Accommodation will not be provided. We're offering a rate of $300-500 per day, dependent on experience.
