1st AC, Dark Comedy Pilot (Los Angeles)

Our upcoming dark comedy pilot, a witty and fast-paced exploration of modern relationships through the lens of a bizarre online dating service, is seeking a talented 1st Assistant Camera. This independent production promises a sharp script and a unique visual style, blending stylistic realism with moments of heightened absurdity. We are looking for someone to help us bring this vision to life with precision and efficiency. Key responsibilities include pulling focus, maintaining camera equipment, assisting with lens changes, and ensuring the camera department runs smoothly during production. You'll be working closely with the DP to execute shots and manage workflow. We expect our 1st AC to have their own basic toolkit, but all camera packages and specialized lenses will be provided by production. Applicants should have at least 2-3 years of professional experience as a 1st AC on narrative projects, with a strong understanding of various camera systems, particularly cinema cameras. A solid reel showcasing your focus pulling skills and a professional attitude are essential. This is a mid-level position, requiring someone who can work independently and anticipate needs. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for 4-5 days during the last week of September 2026, with an additional 1-2 prep days prior. We anticipate 10-12 hour days.
