Directing for Short Film

Looking for a talented mid-level Director to helm an exciting independent short film. This is a character-driven sci-fi drama, exploring themes of memory and identity with a contemplative, somewhat ethereal tone. We're aiming for something visually striking and emotionally resonant. As Director, you'll be responsible for creative vision, guiding performances, and working closely with the DP and other department heads to bring the script to life. We need someone who can lead a crew effectively and articulate their vision clearly. Requirements include previous directing experience on narrative shorts, a strong visual storytelling sensibility, and a reel showcasing your best work. Experience with sci-fi elements or a more dramatic tone is a plus. While we will have some basic gear, you should be comfortable working with independent production resources. Personal gear isn't explicitly required, but if you have specific preferences or a kit (cameras, lenses, etc.) you love working with, let's discuss. Shoot dates are tentatively scheduled for 4-5 days late August/early September in Vancouver, BC. Exact dates and total shoot hours are still being finalized. We'll be providing locations, catering, and transportation for cast and crew during shoot days. Compensation will be determined based on experience.
