Director, Independent Dark Sci-Fi Feature (Paid)

Seeking an experienced Director for an upcoming independent dark sci-fi feature film shooting in Vancouver, BC. This project is a gritty, character-driven story exploring themes of identity and survival in a dystopian near-future. We're aiming for a grounded, atmospheric tone with strong visual storytelling and nuanced performances. It's a challenging but rewarding narrative with a lot of room for a creative visionary. Your primary responsibilities will include leading the creative vision, working closely with the producers, cinematographer, and department heads, directing actors, and overseeing all aspects of the on-set production to ensure the artistic integrity of the film. We're looking for someone who can manage a fast-paced set efficiently while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Ideally, you'll have several narrative directing credits, preferably in feature films or high-end shorts, with a strong understanding of genre filmmaking. A compelling director's reel showcasing your narrative capabilities and visual style is essential. Experience working within independent production budgets and timelines is a significant plus. This is a paid position, offering $500-800/day, commensurate with experience. Shoot dates are TBD but anticipated for late Fall/Early Winter 2024, approximately 20-25 shooting days. Meals and local transportation will be provided on shoot days. We're a small, passionate team eager to make something special and memorable.
