B-Cam Operator, Feature Doc, LA

Documentary Camera Los Angeles, CA mid Budget: Backend percentage

Hey everyone, Adriana Wells here. I'm helping a fantastic independent production team find a skilled B-Cam Operator for an upcoming feature documentary. This isn't your typical talking-heads doc; we're exploring a niche subculture with strong visual storytelling and a raw, observational style, think something along the lines of 'Gymkhana Files' meets 'Free Solo' but in a totally different vein. We need someone who can keep up with fast-paced, unpredictable action and capture authentic moments as they unfold. You'll be working closely with the Cinematographer, focusing on secondary angles, cutaways, and providing additional coverage that enhances the main narrative. We're looking for someone with at least mid-level documentary experience, a strong reel showcasing your ability to operate various camera systems, and ideally you own a dependable camera package (e.g., Sony FX6/9, Canon C300/C500, or comparable, with lenses) that you're comfortable bringing. Experience with run-and-gun scenarios and a good eye for composition are essential. Shoot dates are TBD but looking at late spring/early summer, primarily full days in and around Los Angeles. We'll handle craft services, production insurance, and any necessary travel. Compensation is deferred (backend percentage), which we understand isn't for everyone, but the team is passionate and the project has strong distribution potential. Looking forward to seeing your work!
