Cinematographer, Chicago Doc (Deferred Pay)

Documentary Camera Chicago, IL mid Budget: Backend percentage

Hey everyone, Marcus here. We're looking for a talented Cinematographer for an upcoming independent documentary project in Chicago. This doc explores the vibrant, underdog spirit of local Chicago artists and community organizers, mixing gritty street-level observation with intimate, character-driven narratives. It's going to be honest, a little raw, and really showcase the heart of the city. We need someone who can capture that authenticity beautifully. You'll be responsible for all aspects of cinematography, working closely with the director to establish and execute the visual style. This isn't a massive crew, so a collaborative spirit is key. We're looking for someone with around 3-5 years of experience in documentary or narrative filmmaking, with a strong reel demonstrating your eye for natural light and compelling composition. You'll need to provide your own camera package (Sony FS7, C300 Mark II, or similar cinema-grade camera preferred) and basic lensing. Shoot dates are flexible but we're aiming for 15-20 days over late spring/early summer, primarily weekends and some weekdays. Daily hours will vary, but expect full production days. Compensation is backend percentage with a strong commitment to festival submissions and distribution efforts. Let's make something impactful. Send your reel and a brief intro.
