Gaffer for Indie Music Video (LA Based)

Music Video Lighting Los Angeles, CA entry Budget: Revenue share

Hey everyone, Corey Ballard here. I'm working with a director on an upcoming independent music video shoot in Los Angeles and we're on the hunt for a talented Gaffer. This is for an alt-pop track, think atmospheric lighting, some cool practicals, and a generally moody, cinematic vibe. We're looking to create something visually striking that really complements the music. Your primary role will be executing the lighting plan, working closely with the DP to bring their vision to life. This means setting up and wiring lights, shaping light, and ensuring safety on set. We're a small, passionate crew, so a good attitude and collaborative spirit are key. Ideally, you'll have your own basic lighting kit (stands, stingers, C-stands, flags, maybe a couple of small fixtures) or access to one. Some previous experience gaffing music videos or independent shorts is a plus, and a reel showcasing your work would be awesome. While this is an entry-level opportunity for those looking to expand their portfolio, we do need someone reliable and knowledgeable. Shoot dates are currently TBD, likely 2-3 days in mid-July. We're looking at 10-12 hour days. This is a partnership opportunity, meaning compensation will be a revenue share from the final cut. Meals and craft services will be provided on set. Let's make some magic!
