Gaffer (or Lighting Director) for Music Video - Chicago

Hey there, I'm Amara, a doc filmmaker jumping into a super cool music video project. We're looking for a Gaffer (or Lighting Director, whatever your preferred title is!) to lead our lighting department. This isn't your typical pop video, it's for a genre-bending artist with a really unique, almost experimental, visual style - a blend of neo-soul and alt-R&B with surrealist elements. We want to craft something visually stunning and atmospheric, so your creative input here is going to be huge. Responsibilities include designing and executing the lighting plan, working closely with the DP, and managing your team. We’re aiming for some really moody, dynamic looks. You'll need to bring your own specialized lighting kit (fixtures, stands, modifiers, distro, etc.), although we can supplement some larger units if needed. Experience isn’t strictly required if you’ve got a killer reel that shows your talent. We're open to fresh perspectives! Shoot dates are approximately 5 days in late July, likely 12-hour days. We'll be providing all craft services and transportation to and from set. This is for an independent production, so while we're paying well ($2000-3000/week), we’re also looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
