Gaffer (Mid-Level), Sci-Fi Pilot

Hey everyone, I'm a VFX artist working on an exciting sci-fi pilot based in San Francisco, and we're looking for an experienced Gaffer to join our crew. This isn't your typical sci-fi; we're blending gritty, realistic aesthetics with subtle, evocative visual effects to create something truly unique and atmospheric. Think 'Blade Runner' meets 'Arrival' but on an indie budget. The story itself is a character-driven thriller, so we need someone who can craft sophisticated, nuanced lighting that enhances the emotional beats and practical effects. We're shooting for approximately 5 days over two weekends, likely late August or early September, so flexibility is key. Your main responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with our DP to execute their vision, running our lighting package, and managing the electric department. You'll also need to be adept at rigging and problem-solving on the fly, as indie sets always throw curveballs. We're looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of gaffing experience on narrative projects, ideally with some experience on sci-fi or genre pieces. We'll be providing a basic lighting package, but if you have a solid kit you like to bring, that's a plus (we can discuss gear rental).
