Art Assistant, Sci-Fi Short (Brooklyn)

An independent production is seeking a dedicated Art Assistant to join our small, passionate crew for an upcoming short film. This project is a visually driven sci-fi thriller, exploring themes of memory and perception with a darkly atmospheric tone. We're aiming for a distinctive, practical effects-heavy aesthetic that will be crucial to the film's impact. As Art Assistant, you'll be instrumental in bringing our unique vision to life, working closely with the Art Director. Your responsibilities will include assisting with set dressing, prop sourcing and fabrication, maintaining the art department inventory, and general on-set support. We're looking for someone with a strong eye for detail, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to contribute creatively. While no specific gear is required, experience with prop construction, painting, or set dressing is a plus. Please submit a brief reel or portfolio showcasing any relevant work, even if it's from student projects or personal endeavors. We value enthusiasm and a good work ethic over extensive paid experience. The shoot is currently slated for November 2026, lasting approximately 4-5 days, with 1-2 prep days in October 2026. This is a deferred compensation role, offering screen credit and points, with meals and local travel provided during production. Filming will take place primarily in Brooklyn, NY.
