Art Department for Web Series

Our upcoming independent web series, a dark comedy exploring the absurdities of modern work culture, needs a talented Lead Art Director. We're crafting a unique, slightly surreal aesthetic that leans into stylized set design and props to amplify the comedic and sometimes unsettling tone. This project promises a highly collaborative environment where your creative vision will directly shape the visual storytelling. As Lead Art Director, you'll be responsible for overseeing the entire visual design of the series, from concept development and mood boards to set dressing, prop acquisition, and managing the overall aesthetic continuity. You'll work closely with the director to translate the script's themes into compelling visual elements. We're looking for someone with significant experience in art direction for narrative film or web series, a strong portfolio showcasing your design sensibility, and a proactive attitude. Local knowledge of Chicago resources for set dressing and props is a big plus. While specific gear isn't required, your expertise in visual storytelling is paramount. Prep work will involve about 3 weeks of remote and on-location scouting/planning in mid October 2026, leading into an intensive 5-day shoot period in mid November 2026. This is a volunteer position, but we'll provide all on-set meals and a copy of the final series for your reel. We value passionate, dedicated team members who want to create something truly special.
