Art Director for Gritty NYC Drama Short
Looking for a talented Art Director for an upcoming independent short film. This is a gritty, character-driven drama set in various authentic New York City locations, think a blend of early Scorsese and Cassavetes. We're aiming for a strong visual style that feels lived-in and real, reflecting the characters' struggles and the city's atmosphere. You'll be responsible for translating the director's vision into practical set dressing, prop procurement, and overall aesthetic design. This includes sourcing specific period-appropriate items, collaborating on location dressing, and managing a small art department budget. We need someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of visual storytelling, and a knack for creative problem-solving on a tight schedule. Entry-level experience is welcome, but a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating your aesthetic and design capabilities is a must. You don't need to own a full art department kit, but any personal tools or resources you can bring are a plus. Shoot dates are TBD, but likely 3-4 days in late spring, primarily weekends and some evenings. We'll provide transportation to and from locations within NYC, and lunch/snacks on set. This is a great opportunity to get a strong credit on a compelling project.
