Documentary Editor (Remote OK)

Looking for an editor for an upcoming independent documentary project. This film dives into the vibrant, often overlooked, history of New Orleans jazz musicians from the 1960s and 70s. It's a character-driven piece, full of archival footage and intimate interviews, aiming for a nostalgic yet spirited tone. We're looking for someone who can craft a compelling narrative, manage various media types, and truly understand the rhythm of a story. Your main responsibilities will include assembling raw footage, inputting music, dialogue, graphics, and effects, and collaborating on cuts. Experience with Adobe Premiere Pro is a must, and familiarity with archival footage workflows is a plus. While any experience level is welcome, a reel or examples of previous editing work are essential so we can see your storytelling style. This is a fully remote position, though local candidates in New Orleans are welcome to work collaboratively in person as needed. The editing period will be approximately 4-6 weeks, with flexible hours. Compensation is $250 per day, flat rate. We'll provide all necessary footage and project files.
