Directing for Documentary
Hey everyone, Ben Castillo here. I'm putting out a call for a skilled Director for an upcoming independent documentary project. We're diving deep into some complex, urgent social issues, pushing for real impact with a raw, unflinching tone. This isn't a fluffy piece, we're aiming for a hard-hitting, journalistic approach. We need someone who can shape compelling narratives, guide interviews with sensitivity and insight, and capture powerful, vérité footage. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the creative vision, working closely with a small, dedicated crew and our main subject. We're looking for someone who can craft a cohesive story from a lot of moving parts. Experience directing documentaries is a plus, but we're open to all experience levels if you have a strong reel that demonstrates your directorial voice and storytelling ability. Please provide a link to your reel showcasing your best work. Approximate shoot dates will be spread over 2-3 weeks in early 2025, primarily in Los Angeles, though some travel may be involved. Average 10-12 hour days. A small production company will handle all logistics, and equipment will be provided. Compensation is competitive, $1000-1500 per day, depending on experience. Excited to see what you've got.
