Director, Action-Drama Short Film (NYC)

Seeking an experienced Director for an intense, character-driven action-drama short film shooting in New York City. This independent project explores themes of redemption and consequence through dynamic fight choreography and emotionally resonant performances. We're looking for a visionary storyteller with a strong visual style and a knack for directing actors through complex physical and emotional scenes. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the stunt coordinator, guiding cast and crew through pre-production, on-set direction, and overseeing the creative vision through post-production. You'll be responsible for bringing our script to life with compelling performances and effective pacing. Applicants should have a strong portfolio of narrative work, ideally involving action or physically demanding scenes. Please submit a reel demonstrating your directing prowess and a brief cover letter outlining your approach to action storytelling. While we don't expect you to provide gear, a familiarity with various camera systems and production workflows is essential. Shoot dates are TBD, tentatively late summer/early fall, with an estimated 4-5 shoot days. Compensation will be D.O.E. (dependent on experience), with meals and travel within NYC provided.
