Director: Independent Short Film, Chicago

Hey filmmakers, I'm a documentary filmmaker working on an independent short film, and we're looking for an experienced Director to join our team in Chicago. This is a gritty, character-driven drama set in the city's South Side, exploring themes of family loyalty and economic struggle. It's a powerful story with a lot of heart, and we're excited to bring it to life. We need someone who can lead a small, dedicated crew and has a strong visual storytelling sensibility. Your main responsibilities will include working closely with the screenwriter on script development, translating the story onto the screen, guiding cast performances, and overseeing the artistic and technical elements of the production. We're looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment and can navigate the challenges of an independent shoot with creativity and efficiency. Ideal candidates will have a proven track record directing narrative short films, documentaries, or commercial content. Please have a strong reel demonstrating your directorial vision and ability to work with actors. While we aren't looking for specific gear, familiarity with independent production workflows is a must. Shoot dates are approximately late Summer, early Fall 2024, likely 3-5 days.
