Director, Miami Based Feature Doc

Looking for a talented mid-level Director for an independent, feature-length documentary project focusing on the vibrant, often hidden, subcultures of Miami. This film aims to capture authentic stories with a raw, observational style, leaning into heartfelt narratives and unique visual storytelling. We're looking for someone who can guide our vision, work closely with our small crew, and bring a fresh perspective to the documentary format. Key responsibilities include leading interviews, shaping narrative arcs, overseeing on-set decisions, and collaborating with the editor in post-production. You'll need to have a strong portfolio demonstrating experience directing documentaries (feature or shorts), a keen eye for visual composition, and excellent communication skills. A reel showcasing your previous directorial work is a must. Equipment will be provided, though having a good understanding of various camera systems (like Sony FX series or Blackmagic) is a plus. Shoot dates are approximate, starting late summer, typically 8-10 hour days for roughly 4-6 weeks spread out over a few months. Compensation is $200-400 per day, depending on experience.
