Director: Observational Feature Doc, LA (Deferred)

Seeking an experienced Director for a raw, observational documentary feature centered on the underground art scene in DTLA. This project dives deep into the creative process and daily struggles of emerging artists battling gentrification. We need someone who can capture authentic moments and build trust, letting the story unfold naturally. Key responsibilities include leading the creative vision, working closely with our small crew, and guiding interviews. We're looking for a director with a strong Reel demonstrating experience in character-driven documentaries, ideally with a background in vérité filmmaking. You should be comfortable working independently and guiding our small team effectively. Shoot dates are flexible, primarily on weekends and some evenings, over a 3-4 month period. This is an independent production with deferred pay, but we'll provide all necessary production insurance, permits, and a small stipend for on-set meals and travel expenses within the LA area.
