DP for Documentary Feature
This job posting is closed.
Hey everyone, Camille here. I'm a Production Designer working on an independent documentary feature in Los Angeles and we're on the hunt for a skilled Director of Photography. This project is a really intimate, character-driven piece exploring the lives of local street artists. It’s got a raw, authentic feel, leaning into natural light and vérité style, but we also plan some beautifully composed sequences around their work. We need someone who can capture both the grit of their daily lives and the vibrant energy of their art with a keen eye for visual storytelling. Your primary responsibility will be working closely with our director to establish the visual language for the film, operating the primary camera, and leading our small camera team. We're looking for someone who owns their own camera package (ideally something versatile like a C300, FX6, or similar) and has experience shooting run-and-gun documentary material. A strong reel showcasing your documentary work is essential. We'll be shooting approximately 2-3 days a week, primarily on weekends and some weekdays, over the next 3-4 months. Exact shoot dates are flexible but generally 8-10 hour days. We're providing meals, local travel, and a great, supportive crew environment. This is a deferred compensation project (points + deferred), perfect for someone looking for a passion project with significant festival potential.
