Editor, Mid-Level for Independent Documentary

Documentary Editing Los Angeles, CA mid Budget: Credit + meals

We are seeking a mid-level editor to join our independent production, starting immediately, to help shape the narrative of our compelling documentary project. This film explores the vibrant, untold stories of urban gardeners in Los Angeles, focusing on community resilience and the transformative power of shared spaces. The tone is observational, hopeful, and deeply human. Your primary responsibility will be assembling raw footage into compelling sequences, building story arcs, and collaborating closely with the director to refine the narrative vision. You'll be working with a significant amount of verité footage, interviews, and archival material. We require prior documentary editing experience, a strong understanding of storytelling, and proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro. Please provide a link to your reel showcasing your best narrative work. You will need your own editing workstation and software. This is a volunteer position, offering valuable credit on a passion project that will be submitted to film festivals. Meals will be provided during work sessions. We anticipate approximately 3-4 weeks of work, starting as soon as possible, with flexible hours. We're looking for someone available to dedicate focused time to this project over the next month or so. Our goal is to have a strong rough cut by early October 2026.
