Entry-Level Screenwriter for Action Short Film

Short Film Screenwriting 🌍 Remote entry Budget: $300-500/day

Hey everyone, Ben Castillo here. We're looking for an entry-level screenwriter to help us develop a high-energy short film. This is an independent production with a real focus on compelling action sequences, but we need a solid narrative backbone to make it truly shine. Think John Wick meets psychological thriller, with a lean, impactful story. We need someone who can craft sharp dialogue, build character arcs quickly, and understand how to write action that's exciting on the page and translate well to screen. The story is fairly contained, focusing on a protagonist's escape from a dangerous situation. Key responsibilities include outlining the story, developing character backstories, writing the screenplay (15-20 pages), and collaborating with me and the director on drafts. You should have some experience with scriptwriting software (Final Draft preferred, but others are fine) and a basic understanding of screenplay formatting. Please send over a writing sample, ideally a short scene or an excerpt from a previous script that demonstrates your storytelling chops, especially with action or tension. We're offering flat day rates of $300-500, depending on experience. This will be a remote position, but ideally you're LA-based for potential in-person meetings. Target shoot dates are TBD, likely late summer/early fall for about 2-3 days of principal photography and 1-2 weeks of writing. Looking forward to seeing your work!
