Gaffer (Feature Film) - Vancouver, BC

Hey all, Chris here (Grip on this project). We're looking for a Gaffer for an upcoming independent drama feature shooting in Vancouver, BC. It's a character-driven story, a bit gritty and atmospheric, set in the city's underbelly. We're aiming for a strong visual style that supports the emotional arc of our protagonist, a former boxer trying to make a comeback. You'll be responsible for designing and executing the lighting plan, working closely with our cinematographer to achieve their vision. This includes managing our small lighting package, overseeing setup and strike, and managing the electric department. Flexibility and creative problem-solving are key given our independent nature. We need someone with senior gaffing experience on narrative features. Please have a solid reel showcasing your work. While we have a basic lighting kit, we're open to your suggestions for rentals. Our lead cinematographer is awesome to work with, super collaborative. Shoot dates are approximately 4 weeks, starting early Fall. We anticipate 10-12 hour days. Compensation is deferred, with points on the backend. This is a passion project and we're building a dedicated team.
