Gaffer for LA Doc Shoot

Documentary Cinematography Los Angeles, CA entry Budget: $2000-3000/week

Following a unique individual dedicated to preserving forgotten Hollywood history, our independent documentary explores the passion and eccentricities behind extreme collecting. This project has a thoughtful, observational tone, blending interviews with intimate vérité moments. We're seeking a skilled Gaffer to join our small, agile crew. You'll be responsible for executing the lighting plan, managing grip equipment, and ensuring consistent, high-quality illumination across diverse locations, from dusty archives to sunlit backlots. You should own a basic lighting package (LEDs, stingers, C-stands, flags, sandbags) and have a strong understanding of natural and practical light manipulation. Experience on documentary sets is a plus, and a reel showcasing your work is required. We anticipate a total of 3 weeks of work, primarily during the first half of October 2026. Daily shoot hours will typically be 10-12 hours. We provide camera, sound, and a production vehicle for gear transport. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level gaffer looking to gain experience on a compelling, character-driven story in Los Angeles.
