Gaffer for Sci-Fi Pilot, Austin (Co-Producer)

Hey Austin film fam, James here, a sound designer on an exciting independent pilot and we're looking for a skilled Gaffer to join our crew. This project is a gritty sci-fi drama, think 'Children of Men' meets 'Arrival,' focusing on character-driven suspense in a bleak future. We've got a compelling script and a visually ambitious director, so your lighting expertise will be crucial in creating the right atmosphere. As our Gaffer, you'll be responsible for executing the lighting plan, managing the electrics team, and ensuring all safety protocols are followed. We need someone who can work resourcefully, knowing how to get maximum impact with available gear. This is a co-producer opportunity, meaning you'll get a co-producer credit and backend participation, so we're looking for someone invested in the project's success. Key requirements include a solid understanding of set safety, the ability to lead a small crew, and experience with various lighting packages. We'd love to see your reel, showcasing your creative problem-solving and visual storytelling. While we'll have some gear, familiarity with common independent production lighting kits is a plus. Shoot dates are tentatively planned for late August (approx. 10-12 days total), with flexible prep work leading up to it. We'll be shooting in and around Austin, with catering and craft services provided on set.
