Lighting for Documentary
Hey Chicago film community, I'm looking for an entry-level Grip for an upcoming independent documentary project. This film explores the vibrant, historic music scene of Chicago's South Side, focusing on its enduring influence and current resurgence. We're aiming for a vérité style, intimate and authentic, so an ability to adapt quickly and maintain a low profile on set is key. You'll be assisting the Gaffer and DP with lighting setups, shaping light, managing stands, and helping with general set support. This is a great opportunity to get hands-on experience on a meaningful project. No personal gear required, we'll be providing all necessary lighting and grip equipment. We’re looking for someone eager to learn, reliable, and a good team player. Experience on student films or small projects is a plus, but passion and a strong work ethic are what truly matter. If you have a Reel or examples of past work, please share them, even if it's just stills from school projects. Shoot dates are TBD but anticipated to be spread across several weekends in late summer/early fall. Compensation will be negotiated based on experience. Let's make some magic.
